The concept of exposure and concealment comes from the gay community's search for excitement and pleasure at night. In these processes, I discover my most authentic and honest self, as in gender consciousness, expressing fluid bodies and lines, as well as representing gender fluidity and self-identity and exploration. In the past, I was anxious, scared, and even doubting myself in terms of my self-identity, and it was only after I came to the UK that I realised and explored what I liked to be and what I wanted to be. Especially in Asian societies, we are often limited by traditional social values, such as gender binary. We are labelled by our gender from the time we are born as children, not to mention the self-exploration of gender awareness. When I became a part of an identity that was not recognised by mainstream society, I was subjected to bullying and unequal treatment, which were some of the darkest and most unsavoury experiences of my life. It was not until I came to the UK that I discovered the diversity of society and the different atmospheres that existed between groups, allowing me to explore my inner self and the different perceptions of gender consciousness. In my work, I explore self-consciousness and themes and concepts of gender consciousness, gender fluidity, and gender non-binary. Gender non-binary can represent my life experiences and the idea of breaking away from traditional values by exploring different parts and organs of my body, perhaps exposing certain sexual organs, or choosing to hide my true self. In my view, gender consciousness is the absence of specific rules and institutions, it can take any form and define itself, there are no guidelines or norms, just like gender fluidity, gender is a spectrum that changes over time and with each stage of life, from individual to individual. In a world of gender fluidity, we are all free and carefree, each existing in its own way, not limited or controlled, and the process of exploring ourselves makes us braver and stronger.
